Isn't AMD considered 'bad' atm just because they fell behind in the development area? I mean, directly after they teamed up with ATI they stood still and did nothing. While Intel released new quads and whatnot.

AMD aint "bad" they sell pretty good cpu's and graphic cards (ati).

They did fell behind with Intell, but this was more due to fixed prices that intell offerd to manufactures in return that they didnt sell amd stuff.
Intell had to pay a huge fine for that and since then you see more and more different manufactures sell amd systems.

The AMD cpu's are giving good performance for the price u pay, check some tweaker sites with benchmarks and you will see that ofc they dont run that fast as a intell cpu, but for the money you save with a amd cpu, u can get a extra nice graphics board or a ssd nowerdays.

With the better graphics board and ssd i think your amd system will run just as smooth as a intell cpu with normal graphics and sata drive.

amd's are for geeks D:

but kidding aside i find that intels just work better overall, amd's might work that 3fps faster in some game but for overall pc use(multitasking, unrarring for example) you want an intel

Why? What's the difference? I promise you that you would not notice any difference whatsoever if I gave you two desktops in a blindtest.

early AMD processors had a reputation for being higly volatile and giving a bad overall performance. Videos of a processor burnign hole in the motherboard where commonplace for a few months.

Plenty of years ago but i still stick to intel xD

for me it comes down to personal preference after using amd's for years, intels just seem smoother

It seems I am too stuck with this hateful choice...

Buy Intel for its reputation and get less Hz for mah bucks (looking at the Intel Core i5-760 here), or go for AMD which is generally cheaper for the Hz (looking at the Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition)

Here's a list of their specifications:

for non dutch/flemish people: snelheid = speed

Hit me boys (and girls)!

Read through the thread, the exact same points and opinions apply for you. It wont matter what processor you get, you won't feel any difference. I'd pick the AMD can because of the cheaper price and the symbolic extra speed.

At first I saw something with the value of "4x 3400 MHz" and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it related to. Thanks Deviant, you're the shit.

I've decided to go with the Intel Core i5-760, toms hardware seems to recommend Intel over AMD, even when the AMD clockspeed is higher. I guess other things factor into it too Smile
